PROJECT OVERVIEW
TPD served as Lead Transportation Engineering Consultant on the Lebanon Valley Distribution Center in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, PA. The project involved development of the site to provide approximately 1.3 million s.f. of warehouse distribution space.
TPD provided transportation engineering services to Trammell Crow Company throughout the course of the project, which included the initial conceptual discussions with the Township, preparation of a comprehensive transportation impact study (TIS) during the land development process, preparation of Highway Occupancy Permit (HOP), right-of-way (ROW) dedication and traffic signal design plans, and ultimately acquisition of PennDOT HOPs and traffic signal permits. TPD also provided construction bidding support, since construction was funded by a PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) grant.
Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including PennDOT, Lebanon County and Bethel Township, key roadway improvements were identified to mitigate the impact of the proposed development. These improvements included: (1) widening for additional turn lanes and traffic signalization of the US Route 22/Fredericksburg Road intersection and (2) widening for turn lanes and installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of US Route 22 and Legionnaire (SR 0343) Drive.
TPD Project Highlights:
- Presented findings of the TIS, design concepts and design plans at numerous public meetings with Township officials, residents and PennDOT.
- Obtained PennDOT TIS, HOP traffic signal and ROW approval for the proposed roadway improvements.
- Coordinated implementation of the proposed improvements with a Department of Transportation project that involved widening along US Route 22. Through this coordination, PennDOT agreed to fund construction of a substantial amount of the widening to Route 22 as part of the PennDOT project, which in turn saved Trammel Crow Companies over $1 million in construction costs.
